Our Inky Dinky Saddle is designed for children aged between less than a year to 9 years old. Our children’s saddle can be adjusted as your child grows, meaning they will last until they are ready and big enough to move on to a standard saddle.

Our treeless kids’ horse riding saddle can fit most shapes and sizes from mini Shetland ponies through to large draught horses. As they learn to horse ride, they may practice on different sized horses and ponies as they grow up – their Inky Dinky Saddle will be able to support them no matter the size of their horse.

The price of our kids’ horse riding saddle varies depending on which material you choose.

We also provide a variety of children’s horse riding accessories.

Our children’s saddle is also great for kids with disabilities, allowing them to ride independently, fully supported without the need for caregivers to keep them upright.

Yes – because the young riders are relaxed as they do not need to try to grip to stay on, they actually learn to move with the movement of the pony. We have found that young riders who started in their Inky Dinky children’s saddle over 13 years ago have great posture and seat because of this. Our daughter who we invented the saddle for has been jumping in excess of four feet bareback, gallops across the fields bare back, does trick riding, but also dressage (training with members of the British dressage team). Mags is not unusual amongst our many young riders.

Make sure to keep the Velcro clear of any dirt, hair, fabric, etc as this will all contribute to stopping the hook and loop working properly.

Our Inky Dinky Saddles are designed for children aged between less than a year to 9 years old. Our children’s saddles can be adjusted as they grow, meaning they will last until they are ready to move on to adult saddles.

  1. To ensure an easy fitting, check that the saddle is warm, as it’ll make adjustment much easier.
  2. Take the pommel and cantle off the saddle (by holding the roll, not pulling on the straps)
  3. Fit the base with the panels (or you can get rid of them altogether) and seat still on.
  4. Adjust to the correct tension, making sure the base doesn’t slide.
  5. Now the base is on, fit the pommel and cantle. Then bend both, so they shape around your child’s knee.
  6. Fit the straps into the D rings.
  7. Now you can ungirth the saddle, leave the saddle made up and it should girth up snugly going forward.

A saddle is a crucial asset for new and experienced riders, and especially children. It gives extra support and security while you’re learning to ride a horse. Saddles distribute weight more evenly across the horse or pony, with children’s saddles promoting better balance and encouraging confidence.
